Just came to Sofia for the very first time. Here some impressions I got at first sight.
Things I didn't like
The pavement of the streets.
Commy buildings from 60s and 70s.
The mousaka I ate.
Too big streets.
The massive presence of western European and American companies.
The massive presence of fast-food chains.
The parking-roundabout of the cathedral.
Things I liked
The amount of parks and the general smell of pollen in the whole city.
The ice-cream I ate and the price of the ice-cream.
The sun and the heat.
Some nice buildings.
The cyrillic alphabet.
The cathedral, mosque and the synagogue.
The mountains and the snow in the mountains.
Things drived me nervous/disoriented
Being lost in translation.
The cyrillic alphabet.
My complete lack of knowledge of Bulgaria and Bulgarian cultural habits.
Being sleepy.
Roughly, I had pretty low expectations about the city, the first hours fulfilled those non-expectations and then it went better. Overall, I have a pretty good impression of my first 6h in the city.
